As a literary scholar and writer before painting, I
have always been fascinated by literature, but also by printed matter, pages of
books, music scores, newspapers, etc. The writing is another drawing that
marries with the arabesques of the painting.
Sometimes I copy text or compose a poem on the canvas as a background screen
before painting it. You will find two cycles below:
Mallarmé with Coup de dés, La Terre est faible and Pli selon Pli,
Joyce with the four canvases of the Cycle of the Ulysses and that one of the Unspoken speech. But other words, other texts hide in my paintings, go hunting!
